| Giving a couple hours of your time is a great
way to help make Addison County a better place for animals. The Humane Society
relies on volunteers to perform vital functions around the shelter and for
the organization. |
You can make a difference! On this page are just a couple of ways you
can get involved with the Humane Society. You can also check out the Volunteer
Board at the Shelter. If you see something you'd like to do, please send
an e-mail message to shelter@addisonhumane.org
or call 802.388.1100 and one of the Shelter staff will be glad to help you
get started.

Cat Socializing & Dog Walking
Animals at the Shelter rely on volunteers for much of their humane contact,
which in turn reduces their stress and increases the likelihood they will
find a home. You can help us make sure our animals don't forget what it's
like to be around humans by dropping in from time to time to walk a dog
or play with a cat. It's also helpful to us if you come at the same time each week, but it is not
necessary. to get started, talk to a staff person. |

ACHS is looking for a volunteer to coordinate our Lost and Found Pet Project.

expired cards and following-up with owners, advertising information about
lost pets to the community through posters, our website, and the media.
The time commitment is appropriately two hours a week. |
Media Clipper
ACHS is looking for volunteers to create a file of press clippings about
the Society and animals in our community. Tasks include reviewing local
newspapers for articles and advertisements, cutting out pieces of interest,
and organizing clippings in a binder. The time commitment is approximately
two hours a month. |
Postering
Want to help cats and dogs find homes? We are looking for a couple of people
who are able to drive all over Addison County and put up posters of cats
and dogs available for adoption. Posters can be picked up once a week and
you can put them up as you run errands or whenever you have the time. |
